New
Brunswick and Quebec moose or bears Hunts for Physically
Challenged
Living on the Border of New-Brunswick and Quebec gives me
the opportunity to guide at both places. I try to customize
my hunts to every hunter’s needs, desire and capacity. For
this reason instead of owning a lodge, I rent out cabins,
campers, hotel rooms and even pitch tents to satisfy my
customers. I also do deals for group hunts. My business have
been operating this way for 5 years now and I have
established relations with the local businesses that
offers lodging. I have two single rooms available at the
hotel that are equipped for the physically challenged. Those
rooms have a bit more floor room along with lower beds and
washrooms specially equipped for the physically challenged.
I get these rooms at a discount. I can use these rooms for
the Quebec and New-Brunswick hunts. For transportation, I am
equipped with a regular truck and jeep. The regions I hunt
are also accessible by van if a hunter has a van that has a
wheelchair ramp. We always hunt moose from the ground in old
clear-cuts and we do not need to leave the logging road
except to retrieve our expired animals. We also hunt bears
from the ground in wheelchair accessible blinds and we can
even do spot and stalk because the bear feed on the grass
that grows along the logging roads in the spring season.

New-Brunswick Moose Season
Here, you can harvest a Bull, a calf or a cow. The hunt
falls right in the rut and the trophy potential in this area
is phenomenal, most bull racks range between 45 inches to 55
inches wide with some every year reaching up in the low
6o’s. The region I hunt has real good genetics. The number
one bull harvested in New-Brunswick just got shot last year
by one of my neighbors in a clear-cut of the same region I
hunt. A draw system controls the hunting pressure in the
three-day season. The odds are very favorable for
non-resident hunters. Because of this control, the bulls
have a real good chance of getting old and mature.
Draw deadline: April 30th
Season dates: 25, 26 and 27 of September 2008
Tag; 418$ + tax
Weapons: Firearm or archery. Adaptive equipments like
draw lock are legal.
In NewBrunswick, the law prohibits the use of a crossbow.
_______________________________________________
New-Brunswick Bear Season
We have a spring season, an early fall archery only season
and a fall season. Because we guide for other species too we
only do the spring season and the early fall archery only
season. Our bears are plentiful and the harvesting
opportunity close to 100%. The size of bears average, 150lbs
for a sow and 200lbs for a boar. Do not get me wrong they
grow big here too, the heaviest bear ever taken by a hunter
was in New-Brunswick according to the third edition of the
Guinness book of animal facts and feats and weighted
902lbs field-dressed, estimated between 990 and 1035lbs
live. Although bears in the 300lbs, 400lbs and even 500lbs
range are harvested every year, they are not the norm. A
license is good for all seasons or until one animal is
harvested.
Season, spring: April 21-June 28, 2008.
Tag; 129$ + tax
Weapons: Firearm or archery. Adaptive equipments like
draw lock are legal.
In NewBrunswick, the law prohibits the use of a crossbow.
Season, early fall archery only season; Sept 8 –20, 2008
Tag; 129$ + tax
Weapons: Archery only. Adaptive equipments like draw lock
are legal.
In NewBrunswick, the law prohibits the use of a crossbow.
_______________________________________________
Crossbow friendly Quebec Moose Season
Here we buy our tags over the counter, no draw! We can
harvest bulls and calves only in Quebec. The moose here are
the same kind as in New-Brunswick, but because of the
hunting pressure in the firearm season, most bulls are
younger and the trophy size potential is somewhat diminished
compared to New Brunswick. There are still some big old
bulls roaming the forest. The good news is the archery
season is a distinct season and during the rut and the best
news is that crossbows, along with adaptive bow equipments
are legal to use during this archery season. In Quebec, we
need two tags per moose harvested. If a hunter does not have
a second hunter or if he does and they both want to harvest
each an animal, I have a list of people ready to put their
tag as a second tag, as long as the hunter pays for both
tag. We have three seasons, the 1st, the 9-days
archery only season, during the rut, the 2nd, the
Firearm and archery season, which we don’t hunt and 3rd,
the 4-day archery and muzzleloader hunt, which is post rut.
We do two 4-day hunt in the archery only hunt but we can
also do a full 9-day hunt if a hunter chooses to put all the
odds in his favor. A license is good for all seasons or
until one animal is harvested.
Season, Archery only:
Sept 27-Oct 5, 2008.
Tag; 252.12$ + tax (2007
price, 2008 not out yet)
Weapons: Firearm or
archery. Adaptive equipments like draw lock are legal.
In NewBrunswick, the law prohibits the use of a crossbow.
Season,
early fall archery only season; Sept 28 –31, 2008

FOUNDATION TO PROVIDE FREE
HUNT TO DISABLED VETERAN
Contact: Jon & Dottie Fossel, Co-Chairpersons (406)
682-7930
Alde Feskanin, Executive Director (406) 682-7645
The Jack Creek Preserve Foundation
will be giving a quality bow hunt for either elk or black
bear to a U.S. veteran that was wounded and disabled while
serving in either Iraq or Afghanistan.
The Jack Creek Preserve, a 5,000
acre wildlife preserve near Ennis, Montana, consists of wild
and scenic mountain country that has been set aside to
conserve and protect wildlife and its habitat while also
developing into a Youth Education Center. The major focus of
the Foundation’s mission is to provide educational
opportunities that give young people a deeper understanding
and involvement with habitat and ecology, wildlife
management, hunter conservationists, ethical hunting, and
bowhunting. Among the Foundation’s board of directors are
representatives of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Pope
and Young Club, and Boone and Crockett Club.
Rich in wildlife resources, the
landscape provides a wildlife corridor between the northern
and southern portions of the Lee Metcalf Wilderness area.
Bowhunting for elk and black bears is the primary hunting
being conducted as part of the Foundation’s efforts to
directly support young hunters and others. The auctioned elk
hunts that have been provided by the Foundation to various
national organizations have consistently sold for several
thousand dollars. Hunter success is generally greater than
50%. A 7X7 elk was taken in 2006 that scored 368.
The opportunity to participate in
one of these high quality bow hunts will be given free to a
U.S. military veteran that was wounded and disabled while
serving in either Iraq or Afghanistan. The JCPF is able to
accommodate a veteran that may have suffered severe physical
disabilities. Cabin lodging will be provided and Foundation
personnel will assist the hunt recipient to insure that he
or she enjoys a truly outstanding bowhunting experience.
The deadline to apply for the hunt
is Feb. 1, 2008.
Applications can be obtained by e-mailing the Foundation at
doublef@3rivers.net or through the mail to Jack Creek
Preserve Foundation, P.O. Box 3, Ennis, MT 59729.

Indiana Youth Rabbit Hunt
The “Indiana Beaglers Alliance” and
Co-Sponsors are “Tri County Fish & Wild Life Area”, and
“Salamonie Reservoir”. The first hunt took place on Tri
County Fish & Wild Life Area in the fall of 2006. It went
over real well. Pre-Registration is needed for both
hunts. A 30-day advanced notice would be most appropriate.
Each hunt will “only” be able to handle up to 30 youth. “So
the sooner you register the better.” There is “NO” cost for
the hunt itself, just the cost of the Indiana Youth License
Hunting License. The license can be purchased at each hunt
site, and is good for the whole hunting season.
Hunt Location: Tri County Fish &
Wild Life Area
Hunt Organizer: Don LeCount H (574)
453-2513
Hunt Location: Salamonie Reservoir
Hunt Organizer: James Heasley H
(765) 674-3791 or C (765) 661-4597
Each youth will have a “private mentor”
that will be supervising them during the entire hunt.
Parents are more than welcome to also accompany the youth
during the hunt. Rabbits will be pursued with beagles. There
will be plenty of Dog handlers with beagles for the youth to
hunt over. All participant “must” have attended and
passed a Hunter Education Course & have a valid Indiana
Youth Hunting Licensed to participate. Firearms
safety will be at its “highest degree”. A youth can bring
their own shotgun, or one will be provided. If we need
to provide a shotgun for the youth, we need to know at the
time the youth “registers” for the hunt. After the
hunt lunch will be provided at no cost. Door prizes will be
given away prior to lunch. There will be pictures taken
after the hunt of all participants (youth, mentors, & dog
handlers).
If anyone is still is in need of taking
a Hunter Education Course, call James Heasley at one of his
numbers listed above ASAP.

hunters. We would like to have hunters who would otherwise
not get this type of opportunity. This is a trophy managed
club with close to 8,000 acres of land. Handicapped hunters
will be allowed to harvest 1 doe and 1 buck any size or 2
does.
This
will be a chance for a handicapped hunter to harvest a
really nice buck. This will be a gun hunt. The hunters who
are chosen will be hunting parts of the club that members
are not allowed to hunt with a gun. The hunt will be open
to non-residents. The board of directors will make the
final choice of attendees.
The
cut-off date to apply will be October 1st and the
hunters will be notified the following week.

“BUDDY HUNTS”
Offered in Texas
Our Buddy Hunts” program for disabled hunters work like
this: When an able-bodied hunter purchases a Basic Plus
(or higher) hunting package for whitetail deer, turkey, or
our other hunts, he may bring along a disabled hunter, who
will receive AT NO COST WHATSOEVER the benefits of a Basic
hunt package for the same species (including add-on species)
as selected by the able-bodied hunter, for the same hunt
dates as selected by the able-bodied hunter. The
able-bodied hunter is responsible to provide hunting
assistance for the disabled hunter, but they need not hunt
in the same locations, or even at the same time of day.
Buffalo Mountain Ranch is a handicapped-friendly facility.
We have plenty of ground blinds suited to handicapped
hunters, and we are willing to make changes necessary to
make things work. Sorry, Buddy Hunts do not apply to bison
hunts. We are located upon the Callahan Divide just south of
Abilene, Texas. Visit our website at

Bullet
Bobber Enterprises
I
invented a fishing bobber that can make it easier for the
physically challenged to fish by reducing the need to cast
and to possibly eliminate it completely. I will provide a
combo pack with 1 each of 3 sizes to handicapped fishermen
anywhere in the US at cost. The $3.50 includes postage and
each package will also come with full instructions.
The
main reason I’m offering this is so the physically
challenged can have more fun fishing. My father had Polio
as a young man and wanted to fish but never had much
opportunity, being very dependent on two crutches and later
a wheelchair. Sincerely, Paul Lieb, Ohio

website has a video showing it.
